7-1 Directions from the Nearest Station (Keage Station)
The nearest station is Keage Station on the Tozai Subway Line.
It’s about a 10-minute walk from the station to Nanzenji Temple, and there are many signs, so it’s easy even for first-time visitors.
The Keage Incline is located along the way and is especially recommended during cherry blossom season.
7-2 Directions from Kyoto Station (Train/Bus)
🔸Train (Recommended)
・Kyoto Station → Karasuma Oike → Tozai Line → Keage Station
・Takes about 20-30 minutes, unaffected by traffic.
🔸Bus
・Get off at “Nanzenji/Eikando-michi” bus stop and walk for about 10 minutes.
・However, traffic is heavy during peak tourist season, so allow extra time.
7-3 Access via Walking/Sightseeing Route (Via Philosopher’s Path)
The classic sightseeing route involves heading south along the Philosopher’s Path from the direction of Ginkaku-ji Temple and continuing on to Nanzen-ji Temple.
You can enjoy the seasonal scenery while walking along the lush canal.
